DENVER –An optical seismometer that can detect sub-1Hz signals in marine or other applications is on display by Silicon Audio at SEG 2014 in Denver. The low-frequency data detection tool offers greater sensitivity and broadband response with a high signal-to-noise ratio by using a laser detection system.

Silicon Audio says this sensor is the same size as a conventional geophone and can integrate into existing geophone architecture. Further, its low-noise measurements and ability to work in any orientation make it suitable for downhole and passive seismic applications.
