Sweep efficiency improves with nozzle-based passive inflow control device

HOUSTON -- Two test wells completed in 2006: one in sandstone and one in carbonate reservoir, with the new technology of nozzle-based passive inflow control device (ICD) improved performance of wells with reservoir challenges, says Anne Raffn with Schlumberger at the 2008 Offshore Technology Conference today in Houston.

Raffn says the most important feature of the ICD completion is the self-adjusting effect of flow variations anywhere along the well trajectory resulting in increased well life due to improved sweep efficiency, delayed gas and water breakthrough, and improved well cleanup.
