HOUSTON --Petrobras is featuring its deepwater experience and technologies at the 2008 Offshore Technology Conference in Houston.

Jose Sergio Gabrielli de Azevedo, president of Petrobras, speaking at a press conference today, reiterated the company's target of raising oil production from 2.3 MMbbl now to 3.2 MMbbl in 2012. Roncador field, where production began in 1999, will be contributing 380,000 b/d of oil to this target by the end of 2008, he said, with production reaching 480,000 b/d by 2014.

For Chinook and Cascade in the Gulf of Mexico, Gabrielli said the use of an FPSO mitigates the risks in producing from the Lower Tertiary formation. Also, taking the gas off by pipeline is in the plan. First oil production is anticipated for 2010.

"We have not yet reached an agreement (on the gas pipeline)," he said. "We do not know the volume, yet."

Outside of Brazil and the GoM, Petrobras expects to start flowing new production in Nigeria in about two months.
