HOUSTON --A new version of rotating active heave compensator (AHC) was shown by Bosch Rexroth at the 2008 Offshore Technology Conference in Houston.

Designed for loads of 20 to 100 metric tons (22 to 110 tons), and based on new secondary drive technology, the four-quadrant drive requires less installed power, said Ad de Brouwer, general sales manager Offshore & Dredge Technology.

Also, the system integrates the winch drive and AHC to reduce space requirements.
