LIVERPOOL, UK -- Bibby International Services (BIS) has acquired the Ukraine-based crew manning agency, MA Olevent, for an undisclosed amount.

BIS will invest several million dollars over the next 24 months to increase the amount of seafarers Olevent deploys to ship owners and operators, and to offer DP-simulator training at the company's Sevastopol facility in the Ukraine.

"The acquisition will enable BIS to expand crew supply activities to cover Eastern Europe in addition to Western Europe, India, and the Pacific Rim," says Martyn Howard, managing director of BIS.

BIS will install a Kongsberg K-Pos DP 21 training system at Sevastopol. The dual-controller unit and operations station system is designed to improve personnel training by reducing single system failures and providing a direct interface including propellers, thrusters and rudders, power plants, position-reference systems, and sensors.
