HOUSTON -- Diamond Offshore's one and a half year, $275 million letter of intent (LoI) for the semisubmersible rig Ocean Star has been cancelled, according to analyst Raymond James and Associates.

The analyst points to Hurricane Ike's disruption of the operator's production as its reason to curtail capex spending.
