Austin-based company awarded Iraq platforms contract

Naval Facilities Engineering Command Europe and Southwest Asia have awarded an $11.5 million contract to Austin-based URS-IAP for the modification of the Al Basrah and Khawr Al Amaya Oil Terminal transfer platforms, located in the north Persian Gulf off the Iraqi shoreline.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command Europe and Southwest Asia have awarded an $11.5 million contract to Austin-based URS-IAP for the modification of the Al Basrah and Khawr Al Amaya Oil Terminal transfer platforms, located in the north Persian Gulf off the Iraqi shoreline.
Work will include constructing a communications tower and installing generators, providing crane services, and structural repairs. Work is expected to be completed by March 2009.
