DUBAI -- Construction work is under way on a $327 million integrated maritime industrial complex in the heart of the Hamriyah Free Zone in Sharjah, UAE.
Dredging work for the harbor basins and quay walls is almost complete and contractors have started infrastructure construction. The first tenant companies are expected to move into the complex in 1Q 2010, with final completion scheduled for 2011.
Capable of handling vessels of up to 12,000 metric tons (13,227 tons), Hamriyah Maritime City is to offer comprehensive facilities for shipyard operators and maritime related industries. It will also have ship lifting facilities for vessels up to 5,250 metric tons (5,787 tons).
