ABERDEEN -- Aberdeen-based Scomi Oiltools (Europe) is launching a drilling fluids division in the UK with a new quayside plant.

The 10,000-bbl capacity mud storage facility at Aberdeen Harbour's Pocra Quay is currently being completed and is scheduled to go into operation in July 2008.

According to the company, the new division will offer an integrated package of well fluids and drilling waste management.

"This is an excellent market for Scomi," says Bruce Ewen, Scomi's drilling fluids manager. "We have a very active drilling waste management product line and we will be integrating fluids with this to offer a seamless service to our clients."
