Offshore staff
PARIS -- Total has signed an agreement with OMEL Energy Nigeria (OENL) and OMEL Exploration and Production Nigeria (OEPNL) to acquire 25.67% of the deepwater offshore license OPL 285 and 14.5% in deepwater OPL 279. OENL will remain the operator for OPL 285 and OEPNL the operator for OPL 279. The Nigerian company EMO Exploration and Production is also partner on both of the blocks.
Covering 1,170 sq km (452 sq mi), OPL 285 is near Bonga field in water depths from 400 to 900 m (1,312 to 2,953 ft).
OPL 279 is 100 km (62 mi) offshore, near the Ehra and Bosi fields, in water depths from 800 to 1,800 m (2,625 to 5,906 ft). The license covers 1,125 sq km (434 sq mi).
For each block, the first exploration period, which ends in 2012, encompasses the commitments of acquisition and processing of 500 sq km (193 sq mi) of 3D seismic and the drilling of one exploration well. In the second five-year exploration period, which is optional, the work commitments will cover the acquisition of a further 500 sq km (193 sq mi) of 3D seismic and the drilling of two exploration and/or appraisal wells.
