LONDON --Fairfield Energy has appointed Amec as duty holder of the Dunlin oilfield production facilities in the UK northern North Sea.

These comprise the Dunlin A platform, and subsea infrastructure for the Dunlin Southwest, Merlin, and Osprey fields. London-based Fairfield recently acquired Shell and Esso's majority stake in the fields.

Amec will manage offshore production operations, including health, safety and environmental regulatory compliance. Fairfield will focus on its responsibilities as license operator, namely field development, drilling, and well maintenance.

The contract will run for the life of the field, estimated at 10-15 years. Amec will take on the role in the next few weeks, allowing time for the existing personnel, previously employed by Shell, to complete their transfer under the UK's Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) regulations.
