RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil –Deepwater HT/HP wells offshore Brazil are most likely to be successful if all possible scenarios are simulated first, said Edgar Almanza of Halliburton at the IADC International Deepwater Drilling Conference.
Drawing on the past 10 years' experience, Almanza said that the equipment needed to fit the water depth, and the temperature and pressure expected in order to have the greatest opportunity for success.
"Both the static and the dynamic conditions need to be considered for the downhole, subsea, and surface equipment, and the coiled tubing and wireline operations must be included in the studies," Almanza said.
He concluded by saying the simplest possible drill string offered the best chance for success by offering the fewest chances for problems.
