HOUSTON – Baker Hughes has announced advances designed to enhance the operating range and reliability of electric submersible pumps (ESPs). The new pump design, a “smart” variable speed drive, and power monitoring will be under discussion by Baker Hughes at the 2011 OTC.
The Centrilift FlexPump design covers a wider operating range with higher downhole efficiency even with gas-laden or solids-laden fluids.
The Electrospeed Advantage variable speed drive is designed specifically for ESP application and has a software suite that monitors the downhole system and automatically adjusts the operating parameters to improve uptime.
The PowerMonitor pushed efficiency further. It is installed on the input to the drive and monitors the quantity and quality of the power supply. These data are used to optimize the ESP system to reduce power cost.
