HØVIK, Norway – DNV has released new guidelines for carbon capture and storage projects. The CO2WELLS publication comes out of a joint industry project and aims at project developers and authorities and gives a framework to manage risks associated with existing wells at CO2 storage facilities.
This publication supplements DNV’s CO2QUALSTORE guide released in 2010.
DNV says the guideline is consistent with the ISO31000 international standard for risk management and with current and emerging regulations for CO2 geological storage in the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia.
DNV’s guidelines and recommended practices for CCS are available at www.dnv.com/ccs.
