Mexico’s state oil company Pemex vowed to maintain full production a day after an explosion ripped through the company’s Mexico City headquarters, killing 32 workers and injuring more than 170.
The cause of the January 31 blast remained under investigation Friday.
Pemex released a statement saying it had activated its financial operations contingency system and that production would “continue without irregularities.”
The company has produced around 2.5 million barrels of crude oil per day in recent years.
On Friday, Pemex director general Emilio Lozoya Austin confirmed that 32 people had been killed in the explosion, 121 were treated for injuries and 52 were hospitalized, according to local reports.
Lozoya Austin refused to speculate on the source of the blast at the 54-story office tower, saying the company was working with authorities to determine the cause, according to reports.
