Byron Energy contracts drill rig for Gulf of Mexico well

Byron Energy has contracted a jack-up rig to drill the SM6-1 well in the shallow water Gulf of Mexico off Louisiana, by March 1, 2014, according to Proactive Investors Australia.
This targets gross proved, probable and possible reserves of 3.8 MMbbl of oil and 10.8 bcf of gas (3.1 MMbbl of oil and 8.8 bcf gas net to Byron) in the unpressured shallow sands.
Additional gross prospective resources of 0.3 MMbbl of oil and 10.5 bcf of gas estimated in the deeper pressured section will not be tested by SM6-1.
