ARENDAL, Norway – Gulf Offshore Norway has contracted Maritime Communication Partner (MCP) for communications services on three vessels operating on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Under the three-year deal, MCP will supply seamless mobile phone coverage and internet access. It claims to be the first company offering this customized offshore solution to vessels operating in theNorth Sea.

The service allows crews to communicate at sea as they would on land, via a combination of MCP’s CellAtSea network and others such as GSM, ICE, and VSAT. It is also said to improve communication channels between the vessels and the firms that charter them.
