Optime wins US order for hydrostatic pressure simulator

NOTODDEN, Norway – Optime Subsea Services has agreed to supply a US-based client with a new hyperbaric testing system.

The 20,000-psi (1,379-bar) hyperbaric pressure vessel, which will simulate hydrostatic pressures, will be manufactured at Optime’s headquarters at Notodden, in the northern part of the Norwegian “Subsea Valley” industry cluster.

The hyperbaric testing chamber will have a diameter of 635 mm (25 in.) and a height of 2,500 mm (98.42 in.), and is expected to be delivered and installed by 2017.

Optime CEO Jan-Fredrik Carlsen said: “Our ASME and CE stamped hyperbaric pressure chamber design offer a light and very efficient test system, which is a significant advantage compared to traditional solutions.

“Combined with a unique implosion resistance guarantee, we can offer qualification and testing of equipment for the marine,subsea oil and gas, defense, aviation and other manufacturing industries where testing simulating deepwater environment is required.”

Telemark Technologies, which recently merged with Optime, developed the hyperbaric pressure vessel.
