Technip wins subsea contract

Subsea engineering company Technip has been awarded a $210 million contract by Petrobras for a subsea pipeline and free standing hybrid riser (FSHR). The Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation contract is for a deepwater oil export project in the prolific Campos Basin, offshore Rio de Janeiro.

(Brazil)- Subsea engineering company Technip has been awarded a $210 million contract by Petrobras for a subsea pipeline and free standing hybrid riser (FSHR). The Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation contract is for a deepwater oil export project in the prolific Campos Basin, offshore Rio de Janeiro.

The contract includes all facets of engineering, procuring, installing and pre-commissioning of the oil export system from the semisubmersible platform P-52 to PRA-01, a shallow water collection platform. This will call for a 56-km long thermally insulated 18-in. rigid pipeline to be laid, as well as a free standing hybrid riser in 1,800 m water depth.

Technip's deepwater pipelay vesselDeep Blue will be used for the work, which will be carried out using the J-Lay deployment method. The work is slated to begin in 1Q 2007.

The contract is part of the Campos Basin Oil Outflow and Treatment Plan, which has the aim of increasing oil flow capacity in Campos basin by up to 630,000 b/d.
