Shell has issued a letter of intent to a wholly owned subsidiary of Prosafe ASA, Prosafe Rigs Ltd., for use of the semisubmersible accommodation/service rig Safe Scandinavia in support of the operator's activities in the GoM.

(US, GoM) - Shell has issued a letter of intent to a wholly owned subsidiary of Prosafe ASA, Prosafe Rigs Ltd., for use of the semisubmersible accommodation/service rigSafe Scandinavia in support of the operator's activities in the GoM.
The $19.6 million contract has an initial fixed term of three months, with an option to extend another three months. The semi is expected to begin contract activities around December 1.
Prosafe says that this is the company's first contract in the Gulf, and confirms the strength of the high-end accommodation service rig market.
