(Asia-Pacific) - Total E&P Indonesie has awarded BJ Tubular Services (BJ) a contract to provide hydraulic hammer conductor-driving services. The contract award calls for BJ to drive conductor pipe on Total's assets in Tunu, Tambora, and Handil fields located offshore Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.

BJ is driving conductor pipe to a penetration of 125 m below mudline.

To achieve this, BJ uses its hydraulic pile-driving system known as the S90 Hydrohammer. The system's competitive advantage lies within its ability to deliver precise, concentrated blows to the piling column, which results in an efficient conductor driving operation with a 100% efficiency ratio, says BJ.

Although the two-year contract will begin in January 2006, BJ has already driven conductor pipe on 80 of an estimated 230+ wells scheduled to receive this service by the end of December 2007.

All related hammer conductor-driving services are being delivered by BJ's dedicated personnel and specialist equipment based at the division's base in Balikpapan, with associated support from its bases in Singapore and Malaysia.

"It's very encouraging to see that the work scope for Total Indonesie has been expanded from casing and tubing running services to include hammer conductor-driving services," says Doug Bell, BJ's area manager, Asia-Pacific region. "Given that BJ also provides cementing services for Total Indonesie in this region, we are extremely pleased to be supplying a truly comprehensive range of well services."

Currently, BJ is fulfilling a 24-month contract with Total Indonesie to supply casing and tubing running services on the company's assets in the Tunu, Tambora and Peciko fields.

Previously, BJ provided casing and tubing running services to Total offshore Balikpapan, Indonesia from 2000 to 2001 in the Tunu North field.
