Titanium heat exchangers

Coiltech, a member of the Eco Group, specializes in heat exchangers for air and fluids. Recently, it has developed a new titanium system, in response to demands for more corrosion-resistant materials and longer life spans for heat exchangers. In minimum-impact processes, chemicals are becoming more concentrated than ever before, leading to increased stress on the tube material. Moreover, salt water is used in many instances as a medium - hence the growing need for titanium in offshore and marine applications in particular. Coiltech’s products are suited for both heating and cooling. They consist of titanium tubes and fins made of copper or tin-plated copper. The casing is made of stainless steel. Sizes are available from 0.04 sq m to 7.2 sq m front area, with up to 12 tube rows. Airflows of up to 40 cu m/s can be handled by one heat exchanger.

Welding systemsand consumables

Esab’s involvement with shipbuilding, and subsequently the offshore sector, goes back 100 years. The company develops welding and cutting solutions, with a local presence and technical support in most regional markets. Its specialties include integrated cutting systems, narrow gap, crack tip opening displacement (CTOD) requirements, duplex steels, high heat input welding and rutile flux-cored wires.

Swedish engineer Oscar Kjellberg founded the company in 1904. He developed the first flux-coated, manual metal arc (MMA) electrode to solve a problem related to ship and boiler repairs. Later, Esab pioneered transfer of this technology to all-welded ship construction.

Hydraulic drives

Hagglunds’ hydraulic drive systems are engineered to perform under severe conditions and to provide reliable power to applications above or below the water line. The company’s high torque, low speed motors have a low moment of inertia and can drive and brake with precision in both directions. Complementary accessories include a new valve program.

Hot isostatic pressing

Metso Powdermet has won several challenging contracts in recent years from the offshore sector. The company supplies near net shape products produced using the world’s largest hot isostatic pressing facility, in Surahammar, Sweden. Main applications offshore are pressure vessel items such as manifolds for topside and subsea installations, valve bodies, swivels, wye-pieces, and large wall thickness fittings. Material grades are primarily high-strength stainless steel: ferritic 12% Cr, 6 Mo austenitic, and 22-25% Cr duplex ferritic/austenitic grades with high corrosion resistance.

Stainless steel pipes

Outokumpu Stainless Tubular Products (OSTP) offers a comprehensive range of stainless steel pipes and fittings. The company produces over 90,000 tons of stainless tubes and pipes per year, a proportion of which are tailored to the severe conditions encountered in the oil and gas sector, such as corrosive environments or high pressure reservoirs. The group’s mill in Storfors, Sweden produces thick-walled pipes in special steel grades to meet high-pressure specifications.

Spill-free handling

Todo has been manufacturing and supplying couplings and valves for the oil and chemical industries for over 30 years. Its most notable product is the Todo-Matic Dry Break coupling, designed for spill-free connection and disconnection where aggressive and environmentally dangerous liquids are transferred. Todo-Matic is used extensively by contractors in the North Sea, Far East and Australasia. Typical media transferred by the device are corrosion-protection liquids, glycol, diesel, methanol, helicopter fuel, and drinking water. Offshore, the system is used most frequently by personnel on supply vessels.
