Assomineraria, the Italian petroleum and mining industry association founded in 1917, represents companies operating on and offshore Italy in oil and gas, geothermal, and other energy-related activities. It also represents Italian companies providing equipment and services to the petro-leum and mining industries.
The purpose of Assomineraria is to promote innovative development of these companies, helping them in terms of cost and efficiency, and supporting their actions toward a better social and environmental outlook. Assomineraria also works to:
•Encourage suitable conditions for the development of the petroleum and mining industry from the legislative, fiscal, and economic points of view
•Coordinate and support the operational effectiveness of petroleum and mining companies with regard to local and national institutions responsible for regulations, permits, and fiscal and economics frameworks
•Interpret and promote the needs and interests of the petroleum and mining industry with the institutions, associations, and agencies that operate in the same sector and in sectors directly or indirectly linked to it
•Improve the level of competitiveness of the companies by promoting the highest national and international standards relating to the environment, health, safety, and quality
•Promote and publicize a correct image of the Italian petroleum and mining industry.
Assomineraria is committed to monitoring constantly the legislative activity and policies of institutions and authorities at the local, national, and European level. Further, it cooperates with other national and local industrial associations in the development of common actions that can benefit their business activity. Accordingly, it participates in political initiatives on energy, mining, and environmental issues. As for upstream activity, the association is an active member of the Association of Oil & Gas Producers (OGP) and Eurogif. It also represents the World Petroleum Congress in Italy.
•Organizes public forums and seminars on issues of importance for the sectors represented and on relevant matters raised by its members. It also produces publications on various subjects
•Promotes the adoption of environment and quality standards and also technical innovations that can form a bridge between busi-ness cost-effectiveness and corporate social responsibility
•Hosts and coordinates commissions on stra-tegic issues such as legal affairs, environment, safety, and health, decommissioning.
The association produces a monthly newsletter, Assomin Notizie, a magazine, L'industria mineraria, and a website, www.assomineraria.org.
