Invekta Green is taking its milk-based and environmentally friendly cleaning technique, based on its Bio Gen Active product line, to the global offshore market.

Bio Gen Active features:

  • Surface active properties that support the surfactants in Invekta Green's de-greasing products
  • Mildly acidic properties that enhance the capacity of the company's fruit acid-based de-scaling/de-oxidizing products
  • Amino acids, lactic acid, and vitamins that take care of and protect the skin against irritation.

The compound can support biological degradation of organic waste, such as oil and sludge.

When used in central coolers, water mains, and heating systems, Bio Gen Active can clean without the need to dismantle the system. The cleaning fluids target lime deposits, humus, oxides and corrosion products, algae, bacteria, and magnetite. Invekta Green also claims that Bio Gen Active lifts oxide scale and rust away from metal, leaving the surface free of etching. The lack of etching means water-borne and oil-borne systems can be cleaned without leakage. Other applications include water pipe systems, heat exchangers, and boilers.

Bio Gen Active products are used by many industries for various applications, and companies such as Wärtsilä, Volvo, and Permascand rely on the green cleaning solvents in their industrial settings. In addition, Alfa Laval is supplying Bio Gen Active products to its marine and diesel power customers worldwide.

Invekta Green manufactures products, such as Bio Gen Active, for reconditioning and maintaining equipment.

Invekta Green, founded in 1995, uses whey material from cow's milk to formulate the Bio Gen Active cleaning products. Bio Gen Active is produced from milk whey by fermentation in a biological process.

"We keep the good stuff inside the whey, and the bad stuff, we throw away," said Pär Liljedahl, the company's business area manager. "The good stuff is there for the environment."

The same 18 essential amino acids contained in the whey are the workhorses of Bio Gen Active. The cleaning solution can remove dirt and grease without harming skin, metal, rubber, and other packing materials.

The products carry Swan eco-label status, a Nordic designation that means at least 70% of the used product must return to nature within 28 days. Bio Gen Active returns in less than a week, Lilljedahl said.
