MCS has appointedMichael O’Sullivan as MD. O’Sullivan will lead the company’s Aberdeen office. The company has also appointed Mark Taylor as group quality and training manager. He will be responsible for establishing a new in-house training academy for the company.

Quantapoint has appointedTad Balinger as VP of sales. Balinger will initially focus on high growth potential markets. He will be on special assignment in West Africa to further expand Quantapoint’s leadership in the region. Following this, Balinger will be located in Quantapoint’s Houston office and will concentrate on growing established client relationships as well as developing new relationships.

Petrofac has appointedChris Allen as director of health, safety, security, environment, and integrity assurance (HSSEIA), effective in May. Allen succeeds John Methven, who is retiring.

Venture Production has namedJonathan Roger as the company’s COO. He will replace Jon Murphy, who will leave the company at the end of the year. Roger will also be appointed to the company’s board.

Royal Dutch Shell has appointedSimon Henry as CFO, effective May 1. He replaces Peter Voser, who will become chief executive, effective July 1. Henry previously served as executive VP of finance for Shell International Exploration and Production.

Baker Hughes has appointedArthur (Art) L. Soucy as VP supply chain, effective April 1.

Samson has appointedGreg Mozsgai as senior R&D engineer, Mark Pederson as R&D engineer, and Dylan Dundas as sales support technician.

Devon Energy Corp. has appointedDavid A. Hager as executive VP of exploration and production. Hager will be responsible for all of Devon’s oil and natural gas exploration, drilling, and production operations.

NovaDrill has appointedAndy Szescila to its board of directors. Szescila also serves as a director for Frontera Resources.

ExxonMobil expects to appointA. P. (Andy) Swiger as senior VP, effective April 1, 2009. Swiger currently serves as president of ExxonMobil Gas & Power Marketing Co. and will be a member of ExxonMobil’s management committee.

Ferguson Modular has appointedGary Wilson as director of business development. He will head a team of five senior staff. Wilson previously served as divisional manager for the company.

Yantai Raffles Shipyard has appointedBrian Chang as CEO in addition to his current role as deputy chairman. He replaces Cho Yong Jin.

The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science, and Technology (IMarEST) has appointedMichael Everard as its 107th president. He replaces Yoo Sang Choo. Rear Admiral Nigel Guild has been appointed president-elect.

Douglas-Westwood has appointedSteve Robertson to the company’s board as a director. He will continue to head the firm’s oil and gas activities and lead the transactions and research service lines from the firm’s Canterbury (UK) office.

The International Association of Drilling Contractors and NOV ReedHycalog have namedLarry Dickerson the 2009 Contractor of the Year. Dickerson is president and CEO of Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc.

Sensornet has appointedJohn Dick as VP of Europe, the Former Soviet Union, and Africa (EFA). Based in Aberdeen, Dick will be responsible for growing Sensornet’s business and brand throughout the EFA region by providing monitoring solutions to new and existing customers.

StatoilHydro has awarded Foster Wheeler Energy a contract to undertake the front-end engineering design (FEED) for the carbon dioxide (CO2)/amine project at the Åsgard B offshore production facilities in the Norwegian Sea.

Bibby Ship Management has opened a new facility in the Ukraine. The center is the first to provide specialist dynamic positioning (DP) training for the region. The $1.5-million facility will feature Kongsberg simulators to deliver basic and advanced competence assessment programs to almost 250 students during its first year.

GE Oil & Gas has moved into a new office building in Houston, Texas. The new GE Oil & Gas building is the first site to house all GE Oil & Gas businesses at one location, since the acquisition of PII Pipeline Solutions in 2002, VetcoGray in 2007, and Hydril Pressure Control in 2008.

CGGVeritas has expanded its processing and imaging hub in Cairo. The new expanded regional hub can process all types of seismic data, including wide-azimuth and multi-azimuth, through the latest advanced imaging techniques, the company says. It also provides local support to clients for E&P projects across the region. Performance Energy Services is expanding its facility in Houma, Louisiana. The company will develop five acres at the Port of Terrebonne, which will be used as a topside deck and marine repair yard. Construction on the facility is expected to begin in the third quarter and will be completed by the end of 2Q 2010.

Sensornet has entered into an exclusive agreement with AlMansoori Specialised Engineering to provide thermal profiling intervention solutions for upstream oil and gas applications in the region.

BP has awarded Petrofac Training a three-year training management solutions contract. Under the $5-million contract, Petrofac will deliver a full administrative training package to BP’s North Sea business. This will include identifying, procuring, and scheduling all training requirements for more than 2,000 UK-based BP employees working in the North Sea.

Alliance Engineering has signed an agreement with Dover Engineering to provide support services for the design of offshore projects in Nigeria for Total Upstream Nigeria. The agreement is for a three-year term.

Aker Solutions has signed a partnership agreement with the Arabian Consulting Engineering Centre (ACEC) to support its plans to grow in the engineering services market in Saudi Arabia. The partnership will enable Aker Solutions to further expand its current engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) business by working with Sheikh Bugshan, the owner of ACEC, to form a separate joint venture for the execution of in-Kingdom EPC projects.

Valiant Petroleum has signed a letter of intent to sign a sale and purchase agreement with Nor Energy AS to acquire Nor Energy (UK). The agreement includes a 10.50% interest in license P.201, block 211/22a SE and license P.1383, and block 211/23d containing the Causeway field.
