Baker Oil Tools has introduced FASTFrac Systems, a portfolio of coiled tubing fracture systems developed to selectively stimulate previously bypassed pay, providing an alternative to conventional stage fracture techniques. With FASTFrac systems, operators can isolate and treat multiple intervals on one trip into the well, cutting workover costs and reducing the total time of completion, the company says. The coiled tubing conveyed system helps to optimize production quickly, the company says, because kill weight fluid is no longer needed to contact production intervals. Wells can be completed and stimulated "live" with no need for costly and time-consuming well kill. FASTFrac tools incorporate an Auto-J system that allows coiled tubing to push or pull the systems into or from a wellbore. Upper and lower packoff elements isolate one or multiple production intervals for treatment. Once the first treatment is completed, the FASTFrac system can be unset and repositioned across another production interval to start another treatment.

Slimline process monoflange assemblies

Swagelok Co., www.swagelok.com, has introduced the Kenmac series slimline process monoflange assemblies to replace multi-valve assemblies with a single manifold. The compact design minimizes potential leak points, reduces stress from loading and vibration, and can reduce installation and maintenance time, the company says. The company's monoflange assemblies offer an efficient instrumentation feed from process systems for light process fluids. A full range of configurable monoflange assemblies is available in block, block-and-bleed, and double block-and-bleed flanged manifolds. Valve options include bolted bonnet, outside screw and yoke (OS & Y) bolted bonnet, and integral screwed needle valves. A second variant of the monoflange assembly is the two-valve isolating and venting gauge block monoflange available specifically for instrumentation applications.

Pumping system strainer

Viking Pump's, www.vikingpump.com, Lid-Ease strainers are specially designed to protect any pumping system by preventing solids or foreign materials from entering the pump. As a result, pumps and downstream process equipment experience fewer repairs, reduced downtime, and longer life, the company says. Several features of the Lid-Ease strainers ensure reliable performance and maximum pump uptime. High differential pressures are accommodated by a perforated stainless steel basket with maximum hoop strength, which supports an inner stainless steel screen. Differential pressure indicators that show when the basket needs to be cleaned are optional. To stop entrained solids and foreign materials, the strainer basket comes in numerous options from 10 to 100 mesh screens, or no screen. The basket can include optional magnetic inserts for trapping ferrous particles. Also, a breech lock lid enables top removal of the basket for cleaning.

On-board riser simulation engineering tool

MCS, www.mcs.com, an offshore software and engineering services firm, has developed a new on-board riser simulation engineering tool to maximize the weather-related operating window of dynamically positioned (DP) drilling vessels. The on-board riser/vessel drift-off simulator, DeepDrift, will be installed on GlobalSantaFe's fleet of DP drill ships. Until recently, MCS says, modeling the complete well drilling system was time consuming and not always feasible. DeepDrift provides a fully coupled riser and vessel analysis capability that simultaneously determines the drift-off path of the vessel and the riser drift-off response, the company says. This provides operational personnel with an easy-to-use tool that gives confirmation of the alert offsets under the prevailing met-ocean conditions.

Temperature, signal transmitter

Moore Industries', www.miinet.com, TMZ PC-programmable MODBUS temperature and signal transmitter delivers high input resolution and exceptional digital measurement accuracy, the company says. The unit accepts a direct signal from a wide array of sensors and analog devices, including resistance temperature detectors, thermocouple, ohms, mV, current, voltage, and potentiometer. The unit converts the inputs to the standard MODBUS RTU (RS-485) protocol ready for direct interface with MODBUS-based monitoring and control systems. The TMZ offers significant savings on wiring and installation costs by concentrating multiple monitoring points onto a single MODBUS RTU communication link, the company says. Up to 32 units (without repeaters) can be multi-dropped onto a single low-cost communication link, eliminating the need to run a dedicated wire for each signal.

Smart temperature transmitters

Endress & Hauser, www.endress.com, has introduced the iTEMP TMT162 smart temperature transmitter with stainless steel housing. The TMT162 is capable of single or dual sensor input, meaning the transmitter is capable of accepting input from two different sensors at the same time. The stainless steel housing on the TMT162 offers a corrosion prevention solution. The housing will not peel, rust, or dissolve, which creates a safe work environment, the company says. In addition, corrosion protection detects corrosion on thermocouples and resistance temperature detectors before it corrupts measured values, which allows for a quick maintenance intervention and avoids a potential shut-down.

Marine decking

The PolySpec, www.polyspec.com, Flex-IMO vinyl chip flexible seamless floor is in compliance with IMO-SOLAS' newest mandates for safety of life at sea. PolySpec's Flex IMO system is easy to install and provides longer service life than tile, carpet, or vinyl sheet products, the company says. It requires no waxing or stripping, is fire retardant, and offers excellent wear properties and chemical resistance. Furthermore, the Flex IMO system provides a seamless, flexible, waterproofing barrier to protect the rig's steel decking from moisture buildup and corrosion, even in the most hostile sea conditions, the company says.
