Michael D. Drennon has been appointed vice president of operations for Parker Drilling Co. In this role, Drennon will be responsible for worldwide drilling operations and the associated financial performance. Prior to joining Parker Drilling, Drennon was program director for BP’s development of existing and potential discoveries in Angola. Drennon spent over 28 years with Amoco and BP in a variety of staff, engineering and operations assignments.

Craig Nunez has been named vice president and treasurer for Halliburton. Nunez will be responsible for managing the company’s global cash, debt, foreign exchange, capital structure, risk management, and customer credit and collection functions. Nunez, an 18-year finance and operations veteran, has experience spanning 22 countries and a wide range of business settings. Since 1999, Nunez served as treasurer for Colonial Pipeline Co. Prior to his association with Colonial Pipeline, he held a number of financial and operating positions with Phillips Petroleum Co.

Jezerinacpresident of its Natural Gas Solutions (NGS) business. Carlson joined Dresser in 1973 and has held positions in operations, sales, and marketing. He had served as president of NGS since 2001 and had previously been vice president of global sales and marketing for NGS from 1988 to 2001. Succeeding Carlson at NGS, Jezerinac joined Dresser in 1977 and has held a variety of sales, marketing, operations and business development positions. Most recently he was president of Dresser Flow Services and previously was vice president and general manager of Dresser’s Roots division.

Subsea engineering consult firm MCS has appointedEnda O’Sullivan operations director for the company’s growing subsea and riser consultancy business in Australia. Formally vice-president for MCS in Houston, O’Sullivan brings over 15 years of engineering experience to the company’s Perth office. Mustang Engineering, a subsidiary of international energy services companyJohn Wood Group PLC, is providing the detailed design package for the Blind Faith field development operated by Chevron. Mustang, having completed the pre-FEED and front-end engineering design (FEED) portion of the project, will design the topsides production facilities for the planned semisubmersible floating facility, which will be located on Mississippi Canyon block 650, approximately 160 mi southeast of New Orleans in approximately 7,000 ft of water. The topsides are being designed for initial capacity of 45,000 b/d and 45 MMcf/d gas, with provisions for expansion to accommodate future production increases.
Offshore drilling contractorTransocean Inc. has entered into agreements with PetroJack ASA of Norway, providing Transocean with the exclusive marketing rights for three PetroJack jackup rigs under construction. The three Baker Marine Pacific Class 375 deep drilling jackup rigs are currently under construction in Singapore with expected delivery dates in 2007 and 2008. The exclusive marketing rights and purchasing options granted to Transocean will terminate on March 15, 2006, but can be extended by 30 days. Transocean anticipates exercising its purchase right on each unit once it has secured a contract of sufficient duration and value, although Transocean is not obligated to purchase any of the jackup rigs. The average purchase price for the three units will be approximately $180 million, subject to certain adjustments.
Wellbore assurances service companySPS has announced a number of contract awards in the North Sea and Europe. Talisman Energy has awarded them a $9-million, three-year contract to provide wellbore assurance services for assets in the UKCS and Norwegian sectors of the North Sea. Another major operator in the North Sea has extended its contract with SPS for wellbore cleanup, pit cleaning and surface filtration for various UKCS assets. Finally, Odfjell Drilling UK Ltd. has awarded SPS a three-year contract to provide a full range of wellbore assurance activities under its contract with Shell Exporation & Production Europe. SPS is servicing all Shell assets throughout the UKCS and continental Europe. Alan Christie, vice president - Europe and Africa for SPS said, “In view of our ongoing efforts to further strengthen SPS’s wellbore assurance services in the pan-European region, we are extremely pleased to be working on behalf of each of these valued clients throughout the UKCS and Europe.”
Schlumberger recently marked 25 years of continuous operation between the three Chinese major resource holders, namely PetroChina, Sinopec, and Cnooc, and Schlumberger with a celebration that was attended by executives and representatives from both the customers and Schlumberger. Currently, Schlumberger has 500 people employed in five operating bases in Korla, Karamay, Tanggu, Chengdu, and Shekou, and two supporting offices in Beijing and Urumqi that provide comprehensive oilfield services to China’s oilfields both on land and offshore. DeepOceanASA has been awarded additional work for Statoil under its existing IMR (inspection, maintenance and repair) contract. The work will begin in April 2006 with a duration of six months. The contract value is approximately NOK100 million. DeepOcean will perform an inspection program on various installations in the North Sea for Statoil. In connection with the contract, DeepOcean has chartered the vessel Polar Prince from Rieber Shipping ASA.
McDermott International Inc. subsidiaryJ. Ray McDermott,S.A. has been awarded a contract by Seneca Resources Corp. for the design engineering, procurement, structural fabrication, process outfitting and loadout of a three-pile jacket and deck. Components of the turnkey proposal include the jacket, deck with process facilities, piles and heliport. The detail design and equipment procurement will be provided by Pinnacle Engineering, who is working as J. Ray’s principle subcontractor on the project. The contract is expected to be completed by May 2006, and the facility will be installed in approximately 124 ft of water in Viosca Knoll block 432. •
