NEW DELHI, India — Hardeep Singh Puri, India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Housing and Urban Affairs, inaugurated ONGC’s new digital corporate visualization center in New Delhi in late January.

Staff at the ONGC DARPAN hub, said to be the first of its kind in India, will monitor the company’s oil and gas wells and offshore/onshore drilling rigs in real time. The facility is designed to reduce the need for human intervention and associated downtime, optimizing operations and providing predictive maintenance.

In addition, the minister commended the company on the recent startup of oil production from the deepwater KG-98/2 development in the Krishna Godavari Basin in the Bay of Bengal.

At peak, the facilities should deliver 45,000 bbl/d of oil and more than 10 MMcf/d of gas.
