ADELAIDE/PERTH, Australia — Santos and Woodside Energy have confirmed reports that they have entered talks concerning a potential merger of their operations.

Both stressed, however, that discussions remain at an early stage, with no agreement between the companies and no certainty that any transaction will take place.
