WALLINGFORD, UK – Fugro has secured accreditation from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Helideck Certification Agency (HCA).
This recognizes the company as an approved supplier of helideck monitoring systems (HMS) conforming to the new 2021 UK CAA standards.
These apply to all offshore floating facilities with helidecks that operate in European waters, and to floating assets overseas where UK-registered helicopters operate, apart from Norway, where Norwegian standards apply.
According to Fugro, the road to accreditation started in 2015 when the CAA contracted the company to develop HMS software conforming to the CAA’s new specifications and to trial the prototype HMS on an offshore floating facility: in this case, Fugro partnered with UK North Sea independent Ithaca Energy.
The final product is said to be an optimized helideck monitoring system that assists the safety of helicopter operations on floating assets.
Fugro’s solution includes all hardware, software, remote/on-site support, and geo-data analysis to allow helideck operators to update their systems to the new standards.
