MOSCOWGazprom has signed a co-operation agreement with Russian Helicopters (part of the Rostec State Corp.) for the supply of Mi-171A3 naval helicopters.

The Mi-171A3 is the first Russian helicopter design targeted primarily at offshore operations (transportation of passengers and cargo), and was developed in accordance with International Association of Oil & Gas Producers standards.

Maximum take-off weight for the aircraft is 13 tons. The helicopters will be equipped with a crash-proof fuel system and an automatically activated ditching system with externally mounted floats.

To help the aircraft operate in severe weather conditions, they will also feature an integrated flight and navigation system, a glass cockpit, and a digital avionics suite.

The helicopters will be available in two configurations. The first will be able to carry up to 24 passengers and up to 5 tons of cargo.

The second version, specifically for search and rescue operations, will be fitted with medical equipment. The operator will also have the option to refit a cargo and passenger helicopter into a search and rescue aircraft.

Russian Helicopters will organize testing of the Mi-171А3 prototype and serial production and certification of the helicopters. In addition, there are plans to establish aircraft service centers and training/simulation centers for flight and maintenance personnel.

Gazprom will purchase the helicopters according to its current needs, also placing orders for repairs and service maintenance, for use on its fields on the Russian continental shelf.
