BANGKOK, Thailand – Mermaid Maritime plans to form a new majority owned subsidiary, Mermaid-MOE JV Co. (MMJV), to support offshore transportation, installation and decommissioning projects in the Gulf of Thailand.

The company will own 51% of MMJV, the remainder held by Singapore-based Meitech Offshore Engineering, owned by Indonesia’s PT Meindo Elang Indah (MEINDO) group.

MEINDO is an EPCI contractor serving the upstream oil and gas, energy and petrochemical sectors, providing topsides, jacket and module fabrication, and offshore/onshore pipeline installation in Indonesia.

Both of MMJV’s owners will contribute personnel experienced in offshore oil and gas operations and offshore facilities construction, and the joint venture will also give Mermaid access to MEINDO’s vessels and other specialist services.
