ABERDEEN, UK – Vedanta Resources has extended Sparrows Group’s contract for supply of a rental crane offshore western India by three years.

A-Sparrows manufactured ECR-20 crane will support well service operations on multiple platforms at Cairn Oil & Gas’ Lakshmi and Gauri oil and gas fields, close to Cambay basin in Gujarat.

Vedanta has operated the surrounding offshore blocks since its merger with Cairn India in 2017.

Sparrows will also perform various upgrades to the crane, which Vedanta has operated since 2011, including a new boom, winches, lifting sheaves, load indicator, and wire ropes.

In addition, the lifting capacity will be raised from 15 metric tons to 18 metric tons.

Upgrade work is under way at Sparrows’ workshop in Mumbai with offshore mobilization planned for September, when lifting personnel will install, commission, and operate the crane offshore.
