HEMPSTEAD, Texas Diamond Offshore has awarded Logan Industries a 10-year condition-based monitoring (CBM) contract for its wireline tensioners.

In this contract, Logan will provide fast turn-around upgrade and repairs to a fleet of wireline tensioners onboard five active drilling and completion vessels which have been in use for more than five years.

Traditionally, wireline tensioner equipment units are sent for repair only when they begin to deteriorate. The company’s CBM program is said to provide more proactive monitoring of the health of each unit, helping to predict and mitigate failures before they undergo the upgrade/overhaul process.

The company will upgrade and overhaul each unit as offline availability windows open.

Dean Carey, technical director, Logan Industries, said: “When a unit is tagged for upgrade, we will perform a Logan proprietary and comprehensive overhaul with new parts, coatings, seals, and repair all required components. Our goal is to bring equipment to ‘better than new’ condition by mitigating corrosion problems commonly seen in the environment they operate in.”
