LONDON – Offshore engineering services provider Petrofac has signed an agreement to deploy digitalization specialist MODS’ ‘Virtual Manager Enterprise’ (VME) product in the North Sea.

The agreement gives Petrofac exclusive rights to use VME on the UK continental shelf as an EPC contractor.

VME is a cloud-based, interactive data hub claimed to assist collaboration between offshore and onshore personnel, leading to improved workflow and productivity.

It is also said to reduce the amount of interactions between systems, with documented productivity increases of 20-70%, according to Petrofac.

This is one of various digital technologies the company has been rolling adopting to Engineering & Production Services and Engineering & Construction businesses.

John Pearson, COO, Petrofac Engineering and Production Services, said tools such as VME are allowing the company to deliver cost-efficiencies and increased productivity for its clients.
