Duffy & McGovern to deliver accommodations
Duffy & McGovern Accommodation Services is preparing accommodations for the Magnolia TLP, ConocoPhillips' project in the Gulf of Mexico.
DMAS assembled the accommodations at its New Orleans facility for delivery of the modules to ConocoPhillips. The six ABS/USCG approved eight-man cabins are outfitted with full ventilation, air conditioning, and en-suite bathrooms.
To ensure that the accommodations assemble efficiently, the cabins were stacked in the offshore configuration that will be used on the Magnolia TLP. Technicians tested and pre-commissioned all systems to ensure that piping, electrical, and structural elements assembled smoothly. Pre-commissioning also ensures that downtime is minimized upon arrival on the Magnolia TLP.
"The trial assembly went smoothly, just as we expected," Glenn Aguilar, VP of US operations for DMAS, said. "The cabins have been fully integrated and tested, and will be delivered next week directly to Port Fourchon, La. for loading and shipment to the platform to maximize efficiency for ConocoPhillips."
ConocoPhillips selected Duffy & McGovern Accommodation Services earlier this year to provide the offshore accommodation units for the Gulf of Mexico project. The DMAS cabins will supplement the platform's permanent living quarters during installation and commissioning of the platform. At nearly 4,700 ft, the Magnolia field is a record depth for a TLP installation.
