LONDON – Petrofac’s Training Services division has agreed to form a joint venture with the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
The two parties plan to pursue of training opportunities across the country’s oil and gas and petrochemical industries.
SOCAR will hold a 51% stake in the venture and Petrofac 49%.
It will provide tested, contemporary training, and educational services for personnel inAzerbaijan’s energy sector and those engaged in energy projects in other countries.
Over recent years, SOCAR’s Training, Educational and Certification Department has organized training in compliance with standards of international organizations, such as OPITO and IOSH.
At the same time, the range of skills development SOCAR offers has expanded, Petrofac said.
Petrofac’s approach is said to combine immersive technical training techniques with digital technology. To improve the links between academic education and production, the company plans to develop and assure competence in Azerbaijan for engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, drilling and other disciplines.
SOCAR should also benefit through being able to provide training and certification services to personnel of foreign companies, thereby making full use of the commercial potential of training centers already at its disposal in Azerbaijan.
