Faroe Islands government streamlines exploration and production centers

(Torshavn) The Faroese Petroleum Administration and Faroese Geological Survey have been merged into a new organization, named Jardfeingi. Since the Petroleum Administration was established in 1993, both groups have been located at the same place and at times under the same management. As they were already integrated for hydrocarbon exploration activities, a merger seemed practical.
Jardfeingi, which in English means Faroese Earth and Energy Directorate, will administer legislation for hydrocarbon exploration and production, and energy generation, transportation and distribution. It will also conduct research, consultancy and educational tasks in earth sciences. The website, due online shortly, is www.jardfeingi.fo
