FORNEBU, Norway  A cyber-attack has struck Aker Solutions’ subsidiary C.S.E. in Brazil, which provides maintenance and modifications to the country’s offshore oil and gas installations.

Aker Solutions’ global IT organization is working to resolve the issue, which has impacted CSE’s IT operations, and is in dialog with the authorities in Brazil about the incident.

The attackers claimed to have encrypted digital files and locked access to data.

Early mitigating actions have included a temporary shutdown of most of the IT systems used by the business entity, with no indication so far that systems in other Aker Solutions branches have been affected.
