Dorothy Thompson, non-executive chair of Tullow Oil, has stepped down.

OMV Aktiengesellschaft has appointed Alfred Stern as chairman of the Executive Board and CEO, effective Sept. 1, 2021.

Glen Ole Rødland has stepped down as chairman of Seadrill Ltd. Also, the company has appointed Grant Creed as CFO and Leif Nelson as COO.

Aker Offshore Wind has appointed Philippe Kavafyan as CEO.

Martin Jungbluth has succeeded Juan Manuel Delgado as managing director of Wintershall Dea Mexico.

Ocean Power Technologies Inc. has appointed Philipp Stratmann as president, CEO, and a director, and Matthew T. Shafer as senior vice president, CFO, and treasurer.

ABS has appointed John McDonald as executive vice president and COO.

The Equinor corporate assembly has re-elected Jon Erik Reinhardsen as chair and Jeroen van der Veer as deputy chair of the board. In addition, it has re-elected Bjørn Tore Godal, Rebekka Glasser Herlofsen, Anne Drinkwater, Jonathan Lewis, Finn Bjørn Ruyter, and Tove Andersen as shareholder-elected members, and Hilde Møllerstad, Per Martin Labråthen, and Stig Lægreid as employee-elected members of the board of directors.

The ExxonMobil board of directors consists of Michael Angelakis, Susan Avery, Angela Braly, Ursula Burns, Kenneth Frazier, Gregory Goff, Kaisa Hietala, Joseph Hooley, Steve Kandarian, Alexander Karsner, Jeffrey Ubben, and Darren Woods. Douglas Oberhelman, Sam Palmisano, and Wan Zulkiflee have left the board.

Company News

Saipem has acquired Paris-based Naval Energies’ floating wind business. The transaction comprises Naval Energies’ engineering expertise in floating units, modeling and simulation, and intellectual property rights.

Aker Solutions and AF Gruppen have signed a letter of intent to merge their offshore decommissioning operations into a jointly owned company. The transaction should go through later this year, subject to due diligence and regulatory approvals by the Norwegian Competition Authorities.

Subsea 7 has agreed to combine its renewables business with OHT ASA, subject to approvals. The new group, headquartered in Oslo, will be renamed Seaway 7 ASA and will be focused on offshore fixed wind. It will be a single provider of standalone, integrated or EPCI services encompassing installation of wind turbines, foundations, offshore substations, submarine cables, and heavy transport.

Shearwater GeoServices has joined, as a partner, the Centre for Geophysical Forecasting, a research center hosted by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

Tendeka and Tucker Energy Services have signed a distributor agreement for Trinidad, Suriname, and Guyana.

KOTUG International B.V. has established an Inland Shipping division to provide electric powered pusher tugs and smart AI-driven dispatch and route planning applications for the inland water transportation industry.

Floating offshore wind energy specialist Wave Hub Development Services has been renamed Celtic Sea Power. The company, owned by Cornwall Council in southwest England, changed the name to better reflect its future role, which includes attracting large-scale floating wind projects to the Celtic Sea.

AGR Software has agreed to acquire RIG, the Deloitte Digital portfolio application. RIG was developed to optimize rig scheduling and to provide users with full visibility of their rig portfolio, helping them avoid downtime and delays. The application has been successfully adopted on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Delmar Systems is acquiring the Vryhof group, comprising Deep Sea Mooring and Vryhof Anchors. However, the newly combined company will continue as Delmar Systems and as Vryhof.

Rovco has launched a new hydrographic services division, Rovco Survey Solutions. The Edinburgh and Bristol, UK-based company will offer a range of hydrographic, geophysical and site survey services across the offshore sector.

Ocean Infinity has acquired Ambrey, a maritime services company. Ambrey delivers a range of bespoke offshore services including, security, crisis and risk management, intelligence, insurance, fleet operation, and vessel design and build.

Subsea laser and imaging provider 2G Robotics has rebranded to Voyis.

AFG Holdings Inc. has acquired Maass Flange Corp., the North American assets of Maass Global Group, including its businesses in Mexico and Canada.

Schlumberger has signed an enterprise-scale agreement with Petronas to deploy digital solutions enabled by the DELFI cognitive E&P environment and integrated with the OSDU Data Platform. According to the company, these digital solutions will enable Petronas to accelerate its field development planning and optimize production performance of its assets.

Stena Drilling has taken a 30% stake in Intebloc, a developer of digital solutions for offshore lifting operations. The company will use Stena Drilling’s support to intensify product development and to diversify into the global renewables and marine sectors.

DeepOcean has signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in ADEPTH Minerals AS.

Nevis Technology has secured Civil Aviation Authority certification for its Elements Helideck Monitoring System.

ClassNK and the Carbon Trust have signed a memorandum of understanding to support offshore wind power generation in Japan. The organizations will collaborate to accelerate industrial development and technical innovation, regulatory and policy reform, standardization, and increase skills in the industry.

TSC Subsea has opened a new base in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

DNV is now fully accredited by China National Accreditation Service. This allows DNV to offer type certification of wind turbines and component certification of gearboxes, rotor blades and generators for products destined for Chinese wind power projects.

Ashtead Technology has entered into a global rental partnership with Switzerland-based Hydromea. Ashtead will promote and use Hydromea’s LUMA high-speed through-water wireless optical modems as an integral part of its AMS+ and DMS (autonomous and deflection monitoring systems) for the global subsea construction market. Hydromea will benefit from Ashtead’s sales and distribution network including facilities in Aberdeen, Abu Dhabi, Halifax, Houston, and Singapore.

PXGEO has completed the acquisition of the Seabed Geosolutions OBN business from Fugro. The acquisition includes a substantial ocean bottom node inventory, handling equipment, related technology, intellectual property, and project backlog.
