DELFT, the Netherlands – DeepOcean has contracted Ampelmann to support hookup and commissioning of the new Valhall Flank West platform in the southern Norwegian North Sea for operator Aker BP.

An E-type walk-to-work system (W2W) will be used to transport personnel from the Normand Jarstein vessel to the normally unmanned platform, with the campaign set to get under way soon.

“We have spent a considerable amount of time designing the offshore access segment of this project directly with Aker BP stakeholders,” said Lorenz Nehring, business development manager UK & Norway at Ampelmann.

The E-type is Ampelmann’s largest W2W system for operations in rough weather conditions. It is designed to compensate high sea states up to 4.5 m (14.8 ft) Hs.
