Equinor awarded five blocks as operator offshore Argentina

Equinor gained interests in seven offshore exploration blocks under Argentina’s 1st Offshore Licensing Round.

BUENOS AIRES, ArgentinaEquinor gained interests in seven offshore exploration blocks under Argentina’s 1st Offshore Licensing Round.

In five of the blocks, the company will be operator.

This was the country’s first open bid round for offshore acreage in more than 20 years, with 38 blocks on offer.

Equinor’s awards were as follows:

Argentina basin:

CAN 102 8,965 sq km YPF (operator, 50%), Equinor (50%)

CAN 108 2,882 sq km Equinor (operator, 100%)

CAN 114 7,079 sq km Equinor (operator, 50%), YPF (50%)

Austral basin:

AUS 105 2,157 sq km Equinor (operator, 100%)

AUS 106 2,283 sq km Equinor (operator, 100%)

Mistral basin:

MLO 121 4,291 sq km Equinor (operator, 100%)

MLO 123 3,787 sq km Total (operator, 37.5%), YPF (37.5%) and Equinor (25%)
