PERTH, Australia – Woodside has contracted MODEC International to perform front-end engineering design (FEED) for the FPSO for the deepwater SNE field development offshore Senegal.

The 100,000-b/d capacity vessel will be connected to 23 subsea wells and supporting subsea infrastructure, with first oil anticipated in 2022.

It will also be designed to accommodate production from subsequent SNE development phases, including gas export to shore and subsea tiebacks from other reservoirs and fields in the area.

Phase 1 of the project will target around 230 MMbbl of oil, Woodside added. Following completion of the FEED and subject to government/partner approvals, the company will likely invite MODEC to supply, charter and operate the FPSO. Late last yearSubsea Integration Alliance started work on the subsea FEED.

The partners aim to take a final investment decision on the project in mid-year.

SNE looks set to be Senegal’s first offshore oil development. The location is in the Sangomar Deep Offshore permit area, 100 km (62 mi) south of Dakar.

Elsewhere in the region MODEC currently operates three FPSOs offshore Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire and has supplied another seven floating production facilities to fields offshore Angola, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and Nigeria.
