COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Four companies have submitted bids for Denmark’s 8th licensing round, which opened last June.

On offer were unlicensed areas in the Central Graben and adjacent areas west of 6° 15’ E.

The four are Ardent, Lundin Norway, MOL Dania, and Total E&P Danmark. The state-owned Nordsøfonden will be assigned a share in all the licenses issued.

“I am pleased with the number of applications received in the 8th licensing round. It confirms our understanding of theDanish North Sea as a stable, attractive oil and gas investment area,” said Lars Chr. Lilleholt of Denmark’s Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate.

The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) will review the applications, with awards set to follow this summer. The DEA plans to initiate the country’s 9th Licensing Round in 2020.
