LONDON –Alpha Petroleum Resources has entered agreements with Teekay Offshore Partners for deployment of the FPSO Petrojarl Varg to the Cheviot oil field in the UK northern North Sea.

These should facilitate process modifications to the FPSO, allowing it to operate safely for the maximum 10-year term of the contract while maximizing production.

Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters in Singapore will undertake the modifications, with yard work on the FPSO due to start in 1Q 2019.

Alpha Petroleum is aiming for sanction for the development later this year and is targeting first oil in 2Q 2021, at 30,000 b/d.

Baker Hughes, a GE company will work with the company to advance the field’s subsea infrastructure and integrated drilling services.

Development will involve a minimum of 18 wells, comprising 13 producers, two water injectors and two gas injectors, and one production well in the satellite Peel oil reservoir.

Following evaluation of historical production data from a previous development of the field, and new 3D seismic surveys, Alpha Petroleum concluded the best way to maximize recovery would be re-injection of produced gas and water and use of horizontal wells to minimize drawdown.
