LONDON – The deepwater drillship Ocean Rig Poseidon should have arrived on location to drill Prospect S on the Central Blocks license offshore Namibia.

Operator Chariot Oil & Gas expected the rig to start drilling soon afterwards, with operations lasting around 40 days.

Prospect S could hold 459 MMbbl. It is one of five dip-closed structural traps, with combined prospective resources of 1.758 MMbbl, identified across the license in the Upper Cretaceous turbidite clastic play fairway.

Pending a successful result, two higher risk-reward stratigraphic traps (885 MMbbl combined) could be de-risked through calibration of the 6,100 sq km (2,355 sq mi) of proprietary 3D seismic data over the blocks.
