WEST PERTH, Australia – Carnarvon Petroleum says the Quadrant Energy-operated Dorado-1 welloffshore Western Australia has encountered more oil.

The well on the WA-437-P permit recovered light oil from the Crespin Member containing 50 m (164 ft) gross hydrocarbons and with a net oil pay thickness of 22 m (72 ft).

Quality of the reservoir encountered was above pre-drill estimates with average porosities of 14%.

In addition, the well encountered light oil from the Milne Member, in this case 30 m (98 ft) gross hydrocarbons with net pay thickness of 18 m (59 ft), and average porosity of 13%.

Analysis of pressure data has confirmed that the Dorado structure contains multiple oil columns in the Caley, Crespin, and Milne Members and a gas and condensate column in the Baxter Member, aggregating to total net hydrocarbon pay of 132 m (433 ft).

There was no sign of water in the Caley, Baxter and Milne sands, although the lower section of the Crespin sand does contain an interpreted water contact.
