MELBOURNE, AustraliaCue Energy Resources has received notification of approval from Australia’s National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA) for alterations to an offshore permit program.

This comprises as 12-month suspension of Exploration Permit WA-359-P Permit Year 3, 4 and 5 commitments, a Year 4 work commitment variation, and a 12-month extension of the permit until April 25, 2019.

The changes will give Cue more time for detailed well planning based on newly available data and to prepare for drilling the Ironbark-1 well in 2019.

Cue has already completed a detailed pre-stack depth migration (PSDM) pore pressure study.

Ironbark is a potentially giant prospect that could contain up to 15 tcf of recoverable gas. The location is less than 50 km (31 mi) from the North Rankin platform (part of the North West Shelf LNG facilities) and near the Pluto and Wheatstone LNG infrastructure.

Currently Cue has 100% equity in WA-359-P, but BP and Beach Energy are both evaluating farm-in options.
