LONDON – Phase 4 development activities will start this month at the Bualuang oil field in the Gulf of Thailand with a rig arriving to drill three replacement production wells and to work over two existing wells.

As a result, operatorOphir Energy expects production to rise during the second half to average more than 9,000 b/d.

After the program is complete, the company plans to drill the Bualuang North prospect targeting 1-5 MMboe. If successful, the well will be tied into the existing production facilities.

Offshore Equatorial Guinea, the company and Golar continue negotiations with potential lenders for its proposedFortuna FLNG. The block R license is due to expire at the end of 2018.

Earlier this year the Equatorial Guinea government awarded Ophir offshore block EG-24. Kosmos Energy, which subsequently farmed into 40% of the license, has commissioned a 3D seismic survey which is currently 28% complete.

Offshore Myanmar, Ophir completed (subject to government approval) a cross assignment with Chevron that will give Ophir a 42% interest in blocks AD-03 and A-5.
