Equinor has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to drill a previously untested prospect in the eastern Barents Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Equinor has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to drill a previously untested prospect in the eastern Barents Sea.

The semisubmersibleWest Hercules, operated by North Atlantic Drilling, is due to spud the well on the Gjøkåsen prospect in block 7132/2 in early August, with the program scheduled to last around 28 days.

Water depth at the location is 293 m (961 ft).
